Hazardous Waste Removal & Disposal

A set of strict, technical procedures, in compliance with current legislation is followed for the safe disposal of all hazardous waste.  The collection and safe disposal of hazardous waste such as solid, flammable and other dangerous wastes, toxic to the environment can be a lengthy process. 

All aspects of handling any waste, specifically explosive material, flammable material and radioactive material are covered by specific legislation; Minimum Requirements for the Handling, Classification and Disposal of Hazardous

Firstly we obtain waste samples and the required Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and complete the waste declaration which is all sent to a laboratory for testing.   The most suitable treatment method is then established, and once our quotation is accepted by our client, we obtain the required disposal permits.

The following applies to all Waste Generators and Transporters of Hazardous Waste:

  • ensure the correct packaging, temporary storage and collection of a waste prior to transportation, so as to prevent accidental spillage into the environment and minimise the impact should a spillage occur;
  • ensure that the Hazardous Waste is never “lost”: this is achieved by use of a system of documentation or a manifest system;
  • ensure that the waste arrives safely at a permitted facility;
  • ensure that emergency procedures are in place before an accident occurs, and that the Hazardous Waste is correctly marked so as to aid the emergency team.

Please note that the Generator – or his representative, i.e., transporter – retains primary responsibility for ensuring that adequate steps are taken to minimise the effect of an accident or incident on employees, the public and on the environment.
