Recycling

Recycling

Waste Carriers supports the City of Cape Town initiative to divert waste from landfills and currently separate and sort all recyclable waste on our premises.

Over the last few years due to rising population and economic growth, waste quantities have substantially increased, for example, at 5%  per annum in the City of Cape Town [DEAT 2006b: 34].

Therefore we strive to the following principals;

  • Creating an even greener footprint through minimising waste generated.
  • Making sure only waste that is destined for the landfill ends up there.
  • Continuously aim to ensure that the landfill site is longer preserved.
  • Playing our role to preserve the environment according to Section 24 of the constitution.

Segregation of kitchen wastes is also crucial as it can be used for the production of compost and natural gas.  Whatever we are unable to recycle or re-use, or is taken to landfill for safe disposal.
